Chorba Frik (Freekeh Soup)
Chorba frik (شربة فريك) is a popular Algerian and Tunisian soup made from crushed green wheat. It is a specialty of the Sétif highlands region of Algeria.

- freekeh, crushed green wheat; 7 ounces200 g
- celery, chopped; 3.5 ounces100 g
- parsley, chopped; 3.5 ounces100 g
- tomato puree1 tbsp
- chilli flakes1 tsp
- pepper1 tsp
- salt2 tsp
- olive oil2 tbsp
- water, 8½ cups2 l
- lemon1
- chickpeas, soaked; optional; 3.5 ounces100 g

Method 3 steps
Mix all the ingredients together in a pot large enough to contain everything.
Place the pot over low heat. Cook for 90 minutes, stirring often.
